I'm a 44-year-old mother of four, grandmother of a two-year-old, stepmother of one, and wife (of five years) to the most wonderful man in the world. I have had a weight problem ever since I can remember. I've tried nearly every conceivable weight loss program know to man. I've lost and regained more weight than I care to think about!

Last December, I had just about reached the end of my rope. I felt horrible, I hated myself because nothing I tried ever seemed to work, I was cranky ALL the time, and was generally a very miserable person. I was beginning to feel very sorry for my family, because they bore the brunt of my discontent. About that time I read Dr. Atkins book and my husband (who has a weight problem, too) and I decided to try his program.

We both enjoyed being allowed to enjoy protein & fat again after years of lowfat/high carb eating. Neither one of us were able to maintain ketosis or lose weight, though. I was starting to feel desperate again and prayed and prayed for guidance. I can't describe to you the desperation and hopelessness I felt, although I'm sure you've been there! One day while 'surfing the net' for low-carb stuff, I came across a reference to your Carbohydrate Addict's Diet* book. I read Morris' testimonial and the others on the web page and thought 'hmmm, that sounds like me.'

Well, I bought the book, started the diet in April and changed my world! I felt born again! So many changes - no more craving food 24/7 (teenage abbreviation for 24 hours a day/7 days a week, courtesy of my 17 YO!), no more self-hatred, no NEED for willpower (the lack of which was the reason for my aforementioned self hatred), a new sunny disposition, my gallbladder problems disappeared, no more falling asleep driving home from work every day, feeling like I controlled the food instead of the food controlling me... I know there are more, but I haven't felt that old way for so long that I forget some of them! Isn't that great!!!!

Anyway, I think you get the picture! My weight loss has been incredibly slow, but you know what? I really don't care. For the first time in my life, there is no doubt in my mind that with adherence to the Carbohydrate Addict’s Lifespan Program, the weight will come off. It may take years, but that's OK because I've found the way I'll be eating for the rest of my life. I've found a way to control my weight and still not feel deprived. I must confess that very few of my Reward Meals are balanced (although more of them are balanced now than when I first started), but that's a choice I'm making in order to keep this program livable for me.

I now have an awareness of my body that I never had before - I know when I've had too many carbs because of the way it changes me, I know how to recognize triggers, I can tell when I need to make changes in food choices and water consumption, and I feel better than I've felt in soooooo many years.

I didn't mean to go on so long, but I am so very grateful to you both. You've given me a new lease on life. I should also tell you that my husband enjoys The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet tremendously, as do two of my sisters and a friend. I guess I'm so excited about The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet that I spread it around!

Thanks so much
