When Richard Heller was a kid, he:
  • Was the "stockiest" kid in his class; the last boy to be picked for any team and resolved himself being alone most of the time
  • Earned the nick-name, "the Human Garbage Can" because he ate whatever anyone left on their plates
  • Suffered from a low-blood-sugar-related dyslexic-like learning disability that went undiagnosed and untreated and made him fear school
  • Barely made it through high school, managing to avoid the classes he could not handle because of his inability to concentrate and his learning and reading problems
  • Taught himself to read in order to try to get into college. He was accepted but flunked out because of his blood-sugar-related learning difficulties
  • Returned to college part-time and, by manipulating his diet, discovered ways to maximize his ability to concentrate and minimize his reading and learning problems

Dr. Richard Heller today has:

  • Lost forty-five excess pounds and has maintained his weight loss for over twelve years
  • Has found the cure to his concentration and learning problems; now holds three academic degrees (BA, MS, Ph.D.)
  • Become a well-respected and published research biologist, a visiting professor to NASA's Space Life Sciences Training Program (1988), and Program Director for over a National Institutes of Health's Research Program for over four-and-a-half million dollars over a 12 year period
